10 mindsetters for your meeting or training

The effectiveness of your meeting or training largely depends on the mindset you and your participants are in. How you feel, how sharp you are, and how well you can work together – that is at least as important!

That's why mindsetters are the secret trick to get your team in the right flow. These are not games, like energizers, but short activities that help to regain focus and boost creativity and energy. Sounds good, right? Here are 10 mindsetters to try at your next meeting.

1. Clear your head

It’s been proven: a little exercise can do wonders for your concentration. Take your team outside for a 10-minute walk. Have everyone consciously focus on what they see, hear and smell, without phones. You’ll notice that the fresh air and change of scenery will instantly give you new energy.

2. Micro-meditation

Three minutes is all you need. Have everyone sit quietly, close their eyes, and focus on their breathing. Breathe in deeply through your nose, hold for a moment, and then slowly exhale through your mouth. This will not only calm your mind, but it will also help you release stress and think clearly.

3. Power poses

Let your team literally stand in their power by doing “power poses”. Think of standing up straight with your arms wide or hands on your hips (think classic Superman pose). Hold the pose for two minutes. It may feel a little weird, but research shows that this increases your confidence and energy levels.

4. Yoga

Do some simple standing yoga exercises like the “sun salutation”. This will release tension from the body and get the energy flowing again. Combine it with calm breathing and you have an instant boost for body and mind.

5. Brain dump

Give everyone a piece of paper and have them spend 3 minutes writing down everything that’s on their minds. From to-do’s to frustrations to crazy ideas. It doesn’t have to be neat or logical – it’s about clearing up space in your head. Once it’s on paper, you can come back to it with a fresh perspective.

6. Visualization exercise

Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a situation where you are performing at your best. What do you see, hear, and feel? How are you at your best? This short exercise will help your team reflect on their strengths and motivate them to work from that strength.

7. Gratitude Circle

Have everyone share one thing they are grateful for, big or small. It’s simple, powerful, and creates a positive group dynamic. Plus, it helps focus on what is going well, rather than what could be better.

8. Mindful listening

In pairs: let one person talk for 2 minutes on a topic of their choice, while the other listens alone without interruptions. Then you switch. It sounds simple, but mindful listening creates connection, understanding and strengthens communication in your team.

9. Create a playlist

Music can instantly change your mood. Have everyone share their favorite “feel good” song and play a few songs. Or create a team playlist together that you can play during breaks or at the end of the session. Perfect for an instant boost!

10. Purposeful dreaming

End the session on a positive note. Have everyone take 1 minute to write down a specific goal or dream they want to achieve, either personally or professionally. Then have them share or save it. It’s a powerful reminder that whatever you focus on grows.
