Microsoft announced the new Surface Hub 2018 in May 2. On September 24, Microsoft showed the first images of this product. It is a 50,5-inch screen that can be rotated both horizontally and vertically. The screen supports the surface pen where digital sketches and notes can be made. In addition, the screen contains a 4k video camera for video conferencing, and a touch sensor to let users log in quickly.
The Surface Hub 2 from Microsoft looks very futuristic, and offers a new perspective on conferencing and collaboration. Multiple screens can be linked together to create a larger surface where several people can work at the same time. A high-tech take on agile working. Unfortunately, this tech will also come with a hefty price tag. Its predecessor, the first 55-inch Surface Hub, cost no less than 8000 euros. Small chance that you will soon encounter these screens in many offices.
Despite the fact that this technology is still a bit too expensive, it does provide a very futuristic view of working in the future. More and more developers see the future usefulness of tablets. Both Apple and Microsoft are working hard to optimize their tablets and win over consumers. Every year, tablets become more user-friendly and more clearly defined as a productive device, and there is a good chance that tablets will become an integral part of everyday life in the future. The Surface Hub 2, futuristic as it looks, could well take a prominent role in business in the near future.
